Backyard Bugs 2 is the second Candy Songs children’s music album all about bugs. It includes songs about butterflies, earthworms, ants, dragonflies, and more. The album is educational, with the larger goal of encouraging the inherent sense of wonder children possess for their natural surroundings. Whether they find them in their backyard, neighborhood garden, or on a trip to the park, bugs are always fun to encounter, watch, and learn about. The recordings use traditional Ozark roots music instrumentation in a not-so-traditional fashion. The album takes kids on a musical journey, exposing them to multiple genres and styles of music.
Candy Lee is songwriter, performer, and educator. She was the 2011 NWA Music Award Winner for Best Female Singer/Songwriter, a 2014 Song of Arkansas Contest Finalist, a 2015 Grassy Hill New Folk Finalists, and the 2018 Ozark Regional Songwriter Showcase Winner. She has a BA in Environmental Education and a minor in Elementary Education. Candy also spent years teaching songwriting to kids. Her two young children greatly inspire her newest musical endeavor— an educational children’s music video project called “Candy Songs.” Since its launch in March 2023, the Candy Songs YouTube channel has gained over 100K views.
