Songs for GordonĀ is a scored audiobook based on the manuscript Dear Gordon, written by Robin Bruce. Using a variety of instrumentation including cello, classical guitar, piano and singing, the poetry and essays in Dear Gordon are read behind a rich background of music. This aims to add another texture of feeling to the already gripping story of the intergenerational inheritance of slavery looked at through the lens of Tibetan Buddhism.
Robin Bruce is a multidisciplinary artist in the areas of poetry, image, and music. A Texas native, she brings a southern perspective to her artistic expression. A yoga teacher and Tibetan-Buddhist scholar with an MA in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism from Naropa University, she writes about dharma in the contemporary world, looking at it from a liberation theology perspective in BIPOC bodies and marginalized communities. Her latest work is a text and image manuscript, Dear Gordon, which is part-memoir, part philosophical, part historical text. She is currently a student in the MFA creative writing program at The University of Arkansas.
