Roy Pilgrim and the Ozark Highballers will record a definitive collection of songs to represent the Ozark music tradition at its best. Using reel to reel recording equipment and microphones from the 1940s to lend authenticity to the recordings, this album will also include extensive liner notes and historical photographs of source musicians and places.
Roy Pilgrim is an old-time fiddler from the Fayetteville, Arkansas area. Roy grew up immersed in bluegrass and folk music and at the age of eight began playing guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Roy has played square dances, farmer’s markets, festivals, concerts, and taught workshops across the country as part of the Fayetteville based stringband the Ozark Highballers. He is also a carpenter and operates a small logging and sawmill operation with his brother. Roy lives outside of West Fork, AR on a small homestead where he is raising a couple of pigs, a big garden, and a sorghum patch.
