In the Fall of 2022 RefleXions Music Series Tertulia/Gathering will feature regional, nationally, and internationally recognized citizen-artists coming to us to share their music, perspectives and knowledge, and to interact with our community. RefleXions will hold conversations about social justice initiatives and musical excellence; establish dialogue with our community art leaders/organizations about social impact through the arts panels; provide masterclasses in songwriting, classical repertoire, jazz-improvisation, composition and art-entrepreneurship and innovation; present and broadcast live concerts; and open spaces and time for dancing, singing, jamming and community celebration, healing/ and togetherness.
RefleXions Music Series was created and is led by artist, university professor and arts advocate/administrator Lia Uribe (USA/Colombia). She is associate chair and associate professor of music at the University of Arkansas. Lia Uribe maintains an active national and international career as a chamber musician, orchestral player and artist-teacher. An advocate for diversity, inclusion, representation and balance in the arts, her research is centered in music by and for the historically excluded and underrepresented.
